I am the author of three nonfiction baseball books. My first book, Runnin’ Redbirds: The World Champion 1982 St. Louis Cardinals, was published by McFarland in 2023. Next came Season of Shattered Dreams (Rowman & Littlefield, 2024), which tells the true story of the 1946 Spokane Indians—a minor-league team involved in the deadliest accident in the history of American professional sports. The book was a finalist for the 2024 CASEY Award for Best Baseball Book of the Year.
My latest book, Before They Wore Dodger Blue: Tommy Lasorda and the Greatest Draft Class in Baseball History, was published in December 2025 by August Publications. It’s the story of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ legendary 1968 draft class and follows the colorful cast of characters—including Bill Buckner, Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bobby Valentine, and Tom Paciorek—during a Triple-A season in Spokane playing for an up-and-coming manager named Tommy Lasorda.
